Brake Repair & Brake Service

Brake Repair Technician San AntonioTxThere are two primary ways to identify brake wear and determine whether it's time to visit AAMCO of San Antonio for brake pad replacement: visually and audibly.

  • Visually

When you see that your brake pads are less than 1/4 inch deep, you will need to replace them soon. If a brake pad is less than 1/8 inch deep, it may be very close to wearing through and damaging the rotor. In this case, you need to replace the pad right away!

  • Audibly

Hearing a screeching sound when you apply your brakes is a sign that you are in need of a reline. A noise that sounds more like metal scraping on metal is a more serious problem-you may be damaging the rotors at this point, and will need immediate repairs. You may even need to have the rotors resurfaced or replaced.

Remember that it's much safer and cheaper in the long run to have your brake pads replaced too early than it is to wait a bit too long.
